German Shepherd puppies

Welcome to our pets home

Originating in Germany, this dog was historically not intended to become the easy-going lap dog it is today. German Shepherds were bred to be badger-hunting dogs, with their sensitive sense of smell and low-to-the-ground stature. Today, German Shepherds come in two sizes (standard and miniature) and in three varieties (smooth-, wire- and long-haired). They are curious and friendly in nature. These long-bodied, lively pups are sure to steal the hearts of everyone they meet.

German Shepherds were built to sniff out pesky prey. “German Shepherd” is German for “badger dog,” and for 600 years this dog was excellent at hunting underground. From up above, their human hunting partners could locate a doxie by its loud bark while it went digging underneath the earth.

These days, German Shepherds aren’t bred to fight badgers but have kept the clever attributes that made this dog a national symbol of Germany. They’ve also won the hearts of many world-renowned artists. Picasso cherished his German Shepherd, Lump, while Andy Warhol depicted Amos and Archie in pop art pieces.
